No doubt you already know these depressing statistics: nearly half of all marriages in the US and the UK end in divorce. What you might not realise is that this number doesn’t decrease as we get older and wiser and (theoretically) better at figuring out what we want in a life partner. In fact, it […]
“If anyone can show just cause why this couple cannot lawfully be joined together in matrimony, let them speak now, or forever hold their peace.” Ever heard that at a friend’s wedding and secretly listed all the reasons in your head why this union is so obviously a bad idea? When half of marriages end in […]
Men didn’t just make up an estimated 95% of the site (once you discount all of the fake accounts and sex workers from the female profiles). They were also the only ones paying to use it. They had to pay to join, pay to send messages, pay to make sure women saw their messages first, and pay to open messages that were sent to them.
Women could use the site for free.
Let’s just think about that for a moment. Women could use this site for free – while men had to pay a small fortune – and yet they were outnumbered 20 to 1.
Why is this?
I had a very tossy and turny sleep and woke up utterly furious. This never happens to me, but whenever I get this angry about something, I know a chord has been struck. Robin Williams’ death is utterly tragic. The world has been in collective shock and it’s reached in and grabbed people by the […]
How incredibly sad! There is actually a D-DAY where family law firms and lawyers see a spike in people enquiring about divorce. That day is the first day back to work after New Year’s Day, i.e. Friday 3 January 2014. More than any other day, there is a 30% spike in enquiries on this day. […]

The U.S. Census Bureau and research think tanks such as the Barna Group have revealed some sobering statistics and findings on the subject, though. Overall, the divorce rate is almost at 50%. The news on […]
We all like to think it could never happen to us, but sadly, straying partners are becoming ever more common. So what are some of the tell-tale signs that your partner is cheating on you? Here are some common points I have drawn up after evaluating 78 divorces (which ended due to cheating) in the […]
In a recent article, Kate Mulvey bemoans the fact that as she approaches 50, she is not yet married, putting this down to the fact that men are unable to cope with a woman ‘outshining’ them. She refers to recent research confirming this, saying ‘I have lost count of the times men have rejected and […]
There was a disturbing article in the Mail a few weeks ago about these couples who never have sex but insist they are happy. “It’s not that big a deal” The article states that most evenings, with their little girl safely tucked up in bed, Charlotte and Chris Everiss enjoy a kiss and a cuddle on […]
Recent research has highlighted the fact that the recession, Christmas and New Year period have an impact on many relationships. Stephens Scown Solicitors have researched and discovered emerging trends relating to marriage and divorce. Their findings show • 32% of marriages last between 6 to 10 years. • Nearly 45% of people think that most […]
