Understanding Your Relationship’s Viability

Is There Enough Fuel in Your Relationship Tank?

The purpose of our assessment is to guide you through a deep, reflective process that examines multiple facets of yourself, your partner, and your shared relationship. The goal is to determine whether there is enough “fuel in the tank” to save your marriage or if the data points to a different path. This assessment won’t tell you explicitly whether to “stay” or “go.” Instead, it provides you with the information needed to make a data-driven decision with our support.

Stepping into Your Partner’s Shoes

When completing the assessment alone, you’ll evaluate yourself while also imagining your partner’s perspective. Think about how they view things and make decisions. By doing so, you can gain a clearer understanding of whether your relationship is sustainable or if it’s something you might want to end. Your outcome will depend on various factors: the history of your relationship, the compatibility between you and your partner, and any trauma you’ve both experienced. If you decide to stay, the assessment will shed light on what’s missing, what needs to change, and the challenges ahead. On the other hand, it may reveal an imbalance that signals the end of the relationship, highlighting deal-breakers that no longer align with your needs and values.

Breaking Down the Tests: The Core of the Assessment

The assessment is structured around several tests:

  • Personality Test: This test covers five key traits—agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional dysregulation, openness, and extroversion/introversion. It’s a strong indicator of compatibility or potential triggers. Large differences in these scores between partners often signal an unsustainable relationship, particularly if both score high on emotional dysregulation.
  • Love Languages Test: Understanding each other’s love languages is crucial. If a couple’s primary love languages are different and there is no common “bridging” language, the relationship becomes complicated. Similar to the personality test, significant differences here can lead to challenges.
  • Gottman Assessment Protocol: We have customized the Gottman Assessment protocol to include facets we’ve identified in our 15 years of experience with divorce and separation. This part of the assessment examines relationship history, shared meanings, conflict styles, and overall negative sentiment.

Understanding the Results: What They Mean for Your Relationship

The outcome of the assessment is not a simple “yes” or “no” to staying together. Instead, it provides insights into what it would take to save the relationship, including the skills needed, the weaknesses present, and what you would need to work on. Alternatively, the results may highlight significant imbalances or deal breakers that suggest the relationship may not be sustainable in the long term.

Divorce AssessmentThe Comprehensive Assessment: What’s Included

You can take the tests alone to support your decision, or with your spouse – up to you:

  • Online Test: One online test which you take and then take on behalf of your spouse.
  • Manual Test: One manual test you take which we send you and you send the results through for yourself and then imagine what your spouse would say so you have her results from your perspective reflected in the test also.
  • Oral History Call:
One call which consists of questions associated to an oral history of your relationship – we administer this test manually via a semi structured interview.
  • Questionnaire Call: One call which encompasses questions across 7 questionnaires – we administer this test manually via semi structured interview.
  • Final Results Discussion: The full results and conclusions of all of these tests are discussed with you on the final third call which will help give you data which supports your choice of whether or not to stay in your marriage.

Making the Tough Decision: To Stay or Leave?

After completing the assessment, you may realize that saving the marriage would require extensive work—6-8 months or more of hard effort. The question then becomes: Are both you and your partner willing to put in the necessary effort? Or does the assessment reveal that too many areas are misaligned, making it impossible to continue?

Support at Every Step

No matter what decision you arrive at after completing the assessment—whether to stay and work on the relationship or to part ways—you don’t have to go through it alone. We’re here to support and help you through every step of the process.

Ready to Find Clarity?

This is a very comprehensive assessment that will give you insight and data to help you make the decision to stay and work on your relationship, or to bring closure. Regardless of what your decision is after completing the assessment we are here to support and help.
